How to open an account?

You can open the account in the following ways:

  1. In person – physically appearing in any Abay Bank branch
  2. Through Abay Bank own overseas agent:

  3. By Post- to open account by post , follow the following steps:
    • Download the forms from our website [Click here]
    • Fill the forms
    • Attach the following documents
      • Valid passport copy
      • One (1) passport size photo
      • Ethiopian origin Identification card ( yellow card )
      • Completed application form which is signed by the account holder.
      • Address verification document (Electricity bill, water bill, cable TV bill, Driver license, etc) [optional]
      • For businesses organizations, Certificates of ownership /entitlement for the organization and/or Articles and Memorandum of Association

      All copies need to be notarized by Ministry of foreign Affairs
    • Submit or Post to your nearest Abay Bank agent or post the application directly to Abay Bank via its address.

    • Then you will get your account number either through email or Abay bank agent or post.
    • The agent will assist in case you need help in filing the forms

N.B: Opening of account by Power of Attorney is not allowed. However, Power of Attorneys is allowed to withdraw from the account.
